On 24 January 2006, the Danish Ministry of Culture presented a cultural canon listing Danish works of art. Flora Danica is included in the design and craftsmanship category, which emphasizes once again that Flora Danica is one of the greatest examples of artistic craftsmanship in Denmark, and perhaps in the whole world.

Some of the figurines and some Flora Danica service items are decorated with flowers. These are hand-modelled petal by petal and stamen by stamen. A little flower five to six millimetres in diameter may easily include ten or twelve stamens, which on the finished flower are barely a millimetre long and as fine as sewing thread. A posy about two centimeters in diameter takes four hours to model, while it takes two days to model a garland about fifteen centimeters long.
