White Pot
The porcelain dinnerware series White Pot was created by Grethe Meyer in 1971 and is today a modern classic. There are many reasons for that – including its timeless design and simple shapes. But apart from the design and shapes, White Pot also distinguishes itself by being extremely functional. And it is precisely this combination of functionalism and shapes, which is the essence of Grethe Meyer’s designs. As she expressed it herself when receiving the Danish Design Council's Annual Prize in 1997: ''My products must be effortless – easy and pleasing to use and as simple and anonymous as possible''.
Grethe Meyer also has an eye for detail. It can be seen, for example, in the way the non-dripping coffeepot has been designed. It is constructed with a small insert for the spout, which cut the drip. The material is plastic and therefore does not get stained. The coffeepot lid has a little groove, so it locks into place, and the hole for letting out the steam is hidden in the rim of the lid.
