Figurines Royal Copenhagen

Works of art from Royal Copenhagen

Royal Copenhagen’s beautiful figurines have a long history since the first figurines were exhibited at the World Fair in Paris in 1889.

Each individual figurine demands high skills of craftsmanship. Every individual part of the figurines are cast from liquid white porcelain paste and assembled by skilful hands to ensure that not a single edge or join is visible. The figurines are then hand-painted with precision and artistic insight. Facial expressions, movements and perceptions gradually appear on the white porcelain with every brushstroke.

From polar bears to kittens and from playing children to beautiful young women, Royal Copenhagen’s figurines conjure up moods and feelings as only genuine art can.

Craftmanship since 1775

An ordinary figurine may consist of just two or three parts, or as many as ten or twelve. Heads, arms, paws or accessories are moulded separately and assembled by hand. Read more about Craftmanship.
