A new flower tale by Royal Copenhagen
With blomst, a new chapter is written in the Royal Copenhagen flower tales – hand-made in the finest porcelain. Since the founding of the porcelain factory in 1775, flowers have been an integral part of the universe of Royal Copenhagen and have adorned everything from the extravagant Flora Danica to the classic Blue Fluted Plain. Through an inspired collaboration that began in 2012, blomst was brought to life by the Royal Copenhagen design department and Dutch artist, Wouter Dolk, as a continuation of and tribute to Royal Copenhagen’s infatuation with flowers. blomst is new, fresh and still unmistakably Royal Copenhagen.
Inspired by a classic
As a modern and respectful interpretation of Royal Copenhagen’s Pattern No. 2, Blue Flower from 1779, blomst is a beautiful tribute to both past and present. In the artistic development of blomst, special emphasis has been put on the combination of form, design, placement of decorations and brush strokes. The result is a delicate and refined interplay of elements, which brings out the grace of each flower on each piece of porcelain. The reinterpreted, hand-painted Blue Flower decoration appears soft and harmonious in the edged shape of every porcelain piece.
