For 3daysofdesign 2023, Royal Copenhagen and Vitra are joining forces to celebrate the art of hosting: a synthesis of two iconic design legacies in a joyful table setting experience at Royal Copenhagen’s historic location in the heart of the Danish capital.

Surprising yet synergetic

The union between the two renowned design brands is surprising yet synergetic. Both Royal Copenhagen and Vitra epitomise design for the home and the art of the table, with products that have been loved and used for decades when entertaining. Though the designs of the two brands differ in category, material, method of fabrication and style of craftmanship, Royal Copenhagen and Vitra share a philosophy of mastering and refining design that naturally becomes an extended part of the personal aesthetics, traditions and gestures of consumers when inviting guests into their home. 

Table settings give hosting a signature look

It is at the core of Royal Copenhagen to inspire. Setting a table for both formal and informal occasions is an art form practised and refined for centuries, which lives and evolves with the rhythm of the times. We are honoured to collaborate with Vitra and showcase design and creativity that bring people together for joyful moments, which is the very essence of hosting.

Charles and Ray Eames

For Charles and Ray Eames, two of the most influential designers of the twentieth century, design and architecture was a serious business. They always took great care when hosting, regardless of whether it was office-related or a private gathering, especially with the arrangement and serving of food. Being a good host was vital to the Eameses. When it came to the process of designing a chair, planning an exhibition, welcoming visitors to the Eames Office or receiving guests for dinner in their private home, the Eames House, it was always a matter of anticipating needs.
