Monica Ritterband (1955), Journalist

Monica Ritterband grew up in a family of artists and helped on large art project since age of 13.

However, it was not art that she chose to work with initially, she chose words – journalism. But art never left Monica Ritterbands life and parallel to her journalistic work she soldered iron sculptures, modelled figurines and created mini glass mosaics in a topical, soulful and singular style.

Devoted to Art

A turning point came in 1997, when she decided to devote herself to art full time. Monica Ritterband has never regretted this decision, to the delight of many art lovers. The residents of several Danish towns are able to enjoy her huge, but elegant steel sculptures, and she has been nominated Artist of the Year four times in different connections.

Musical fascination

Monica Ritterband has always been interested in musical notation, and she has been drawing and elaborating on notes and treble clefs with human characteristics for many years.

This fascination has expressed itself in a whole family of notes, who have become a distinctive element in Monica Ritterbands artistic universe.

Now the little crotchets and quavers decorate Royal Copenhagen porcelain too.
