Ballerinas

This series of ballerina figurines portrays a group of ballet dancers at the Royal Danish School of Ballet, full of life and with a relaxed grace that is distanced from the popular image of ballerinas in stiff, classical poses.

When the designer started to work on the Ballerina series, his aim was also to show the ballerinas in the middle of training, to capture the special poetry of a troupe of ballet dancers, at once both relaxed and concentrated on the dance. The designer had the opportunity to study ballet training at close quarters when he visited a class at practice. It proved an inspiring experience that was of great benefit to his work on this figurine series.

In order to emphasize the clean lines of the girls, the items of Ballarinas series are painted in delicate, pale colors – their practice clothes are blue, while their dresses have been kept white – but with a slightly bluish tone.
