Blue Palmette

Spoon 14 cm

The Blue Palmette Spoon is an all around joy to use: The smooth, round edges gives it an easy feel both holding it and eating with it. It’s a classy little piece with finely hand painted details, designed to lay stable next to the bowl while not used.

The name Blue Palmette refers to the artistic palm leaves originating from the more than 240-year-old Blue Fluted Plain pattern. The shape of the service also contains references to Royal Copenhagen’s heritage in the form of the three wavy lines, which appear in relief on the rim of all plates and dishes. Loyal to its heritage but still entirely its own.

The Three Waves
Proposed as The Royal Danish Porcelain Factory trademark in 1775 by Queen dowager Juliane Marie, every piece of Royal Copenhagen porcelain is instantly recognised by the three blue waves on its underside symbolising the Sound, the Great Belt and the Little Belt - the three main waterways of Denmark.

The Signature
The delicate decoration of the hand painted porcelain is comparable to the painter own signature and like any other piece of art, Royal Copenhagen skilled blue painters leave their signatureon the underside of every piece of porcelain.
