The enchanting emerald green colour of Royal Copenhagen's two new collections have previously been part of our univers. At the end of the 19th century, the Full Lace collection was decorated in beautiful overglace colours such as the familiar purpur og the vibrant emerald green.
In an artistic interpretation of two classic collections, Royal Copenhagen now introduces Emerald Green Fluted Full Lace and Emerald Green Fluted Half Lace, which bring a colourful exclusivity to your home.
The emerald green colour was particularly popular in the 1800s and was commonly used for art, home décor and clothing. The colour was favored by artists like Monet, Cezanne and Vincent Van Gogh.
The colour symbolizes balance and harmony, luck, freshness and renewal. It is also a colour commonly associated with sophistication, conveying a sense of prestige and luxury.
The emerald collections are painted with the overglace-technique, which is also used for the iconic Flora Danica collection. This technique is the only way to create a colour as bright and clear as the emerald green. The overglaze-technique requires more time, additional firings and extra painting skills compared to underglaze-painted porcelain.
Underglaze-painted collections are only fired twice; once before the glazing and once after. For overglaze-painted collections, a third (and sometimes fourth) firing is required to fuse the paint to the glossy porcelain surface.
So, while the decorations applied to Emerald Green Fluted Full Lace and Emerald Green Fluted Half Lace are the same as the decorations for Blue Fluted Full Lace and Blue Fluted Half Lace, the technique and craftsmanship behind the collection is more complex, takes longer to execute and requires special skills.
The elegant lace border found on Emerald Green Fluted Half Lace is decorated with delicate brush strokes. The half lace encircles the hand-painted decoration of floral elements twirling around the fluted porcelain in a romantic expression.
On the detailed Emerald Green Fluted Full Lace, every little perforation in the intricate lace border is carefully made by hand and accented with green brushstrokes. Charming details such as snail shells and baroque masks adorn lids and handles.
