On the 14th of January 2022 Her Majesty The Queen has been the head of state of Denmark, the Faroe Islands and Greenland through a half century. As a loving tribute to HM The Queen’s golden jubilee, Royal Copenhagen has created a special collection in her honour: The Tribute Collection. The collection is a beautiful union of Flora Danica pieces decorated with hand-picked flowers, Purpur Full Lace and Purpur Half Lace with golden rim, a reproduction of a Royal Danish Life Guard figurine and a limited edition daisy bonbonniere.
The bonbonniere features the relief of a daisy on the lid as a loving nod to the HM The Queen's favourite flower – and her personal nickname. The unglazed porcelain is instantly eye-catching and the versatile bonbonniere is a perfect gift item. The Bonbonniere is a limited edition production and is only available in 2022 as long as stock lasts.
The figurine of the Royal Danish Life Guard is an old Bing & Grøndahl figurine that Royal Copenhagen has brought back to life.
During her life, HM Queen Margrethe has visited Greenland and the Faroe Islands regularly and fallen in love with the countries’ rural nature. In honour of this special bond, one of the pieces in The Tribute Collection is a 29 cm Flora Danica Plate skilfully decorated by hand with wild plants from Greenland and the Faroe Islands. On the surface of the plate, the national flower of Greenland, broad-leaved fireweed, shine in all its glory together with graceful blue bells and delicate black crowberries. The beautiful narrow-leaved petiole, native to both Greenland and the Faroe Islands, also adorns the surface, and the colourful spotted cuckoo grass adds a final touch.
The decorative bouquet is inspired by flowers related to HM The Queen’s life. The apple blossom branch is a symbol of the national fruit of Denmark; the Gråsten apple that grows in the Royal Garden at Gråsten Castle. The daisies are a loving salute to HM The Queen’s name, Margrethe, and the Queen’s nickname among friends and family, Daisy. A beautiful rose adorns the surface with its soft pink leaves and is a referral to the rose “Queen Margrethe”, which was introduced in 1996. The Flora Danica pieces in The Tribute Collection are Limited Editions, where the skilled Flora Danica painters have been granted the creative freedom to unfold the flowers atop the golden rim. It is the first time in the history of Flora Danica that the flowers are not placed in the centre of the plate.
The five small Flora Danica Butter Plates in The Tribute Collection are elegantly decorated with hand-painted berries from the royal kitchen garden at Gråsten Castle, where HM The Queen enjoys picking the fresh berries for jam and tarts every year. The delicate, white surface of the porcelain is adorned with delicious blackcurrants, juicy gooseberries, sweet currants and raspberries. The small strawberries are called alpine strawberries and are known for their summerly sweetness.
The Flora Danica pieces cannot be purchased online. The Tribute Collection can be ordered through our stores world wide. Purpur Fluted Full Lace with Gold and Purpur Fluted Half Lace with Gold are sold exclusively in selected Royal Copenhagen Stores world wide.
